1. Tawang Monastery


Tawang Monastery happens to be one the most ancient Monasteries in India. Situated in Arunachal Pradesh. This holy shrine, located in the midst of majestic mountain ranges, is home to more than 700 monks and 450 Lamas, making it the biggest Buddhist Monastery in India, and the second biggest in Asia, outside of Lhasa, Tibet.

2. Rumtek Monastery


Rumtek Monastery happens to be one the most Beautiful Monasteries in India. Situated in Sikkim, In the North Eastern part of India. The North east is more or less a Paradise on Earth. The Rumtek Monastery also serves as one of the most important seats of the Kagyu (Black Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism outside of Tibet and is also known as Dharmachakra Center. The visual treat has to offer could not be described in the words, It rests on an elevation of 5000 ft. Also, it is covered by the greenery from all four sides. 3. Thiksey Monastery

Thiksey Monastery is the largest monastery in central Ladakh district in Jammu and Kashmir, situated 18 km from Leh. It is situated into the Indus Valley. The monastery is famous for its architecture and its location. The 12 storey monastery has 10 temples, an assembly hall, and is home to 120 monks and nunnery. There happens to be one big statue of Maitreya covering almost two floor of the monastery that is 40 feet in height. Maitreya is considered to be the future Buddha. The buildings of monasteries are arranged in an hierarchical order.
